Homemade Playdough

I am so thankful for my job situation this year. For the first time in my adult life I have had the whole week of Christmas off. As a nurse, this is actually insane. So I have spent my time with Parker because his daycare is closed this week, and we have been having a blast together. On one of my days off, we decided to give homemade play dough a try! Being that it’s still a toss up on if he is going to put something in his mouth, homemade seemed like the better way to go for us right now :)

I also wanted to throw a few drops of my peace and calming oil in there too! You all know I’m obsessed with this kid, but sometimes the meltdowns are real. So I will take all the help I can get! haha

INGREDIENTS

1 cup flour

1/4 cup salt

1 teaspoon vegetable oil

koolaid packets

essential oil

water

So first we combined the flour, salt, and about 10 drops of my peace and calming oil. I then added in about 4 of the koolaid packets. I definetly thought they were going to be blue based on box. So I was nervous to use them, but I liked this better than food coloring! It didn’t leave a stain on hands or the table so big win in my book!

I added in the vegetable oil and realized the recipe I was adapting from hadn’t given me an amount of water to add. So I just added a little at a time until I got the right consistency!

We had fun with this and I realized I need to get him some cookie cutters or something to play with it! Plus I have it stored in a mason jar right now, and the oil seems to be keeping it from drying out, so fingers crossed it lasts a little while!
