Master Bathroom Upgrade

IMG_4808 (1).JPG

This bathroom has been such an interesting project. I started making little improvements to it about a year ago, and finally am calling it “done.” It’s a huge space, which is such a blessing, especially compared to our last master bathroom. But the style had not been updated since it was built, and just wasn’t what we wanted. But I refuse to take out any sort of loan for our house projects because you just don’t know what could happen (hello 2020 lol). No judgement on anyone who does, just a goal I’ve set for us, and why I try to do so much of the work myself.

Anyway, here is our 5-10 year facelift on our bathroom because I didn’t want to leave it as is until we could truly gut it. Plus I have a list of other things that are more important to me right now to save up for. (ahem..22 year old carpet with dogs anyone? That’s enough to test anyone’s patience).

These are the before photos. The previous owners did a great job of maintaining this house, just not necessarily updating it. The two features that were actually problems that needed to be fixed were the tub faucet was too short (this is the only part I had to hire help for), and the shower door was rusted out and leaking out at the bottom. The rest of it was just trying to do osme cosmetic fixes on a budget.

Here is a list of the projects that occured in this space. None of them were very expensive at all but you can see why it took me some time.

Painted walls green
Painted doors & changed hardware
Shiplapped three walls
Split electrical and changed light fixtures (oh I lied, I did need an electrician for the wiring.)
Changed sink faucets
Took down mirrior & replaced
Changed tub & shower fixtures
Redid the floor
New toilet seat
Wrapped the tub
"Tiled” around the tub
Changed the shower door
Took down towel rack and cabinets, and put up open shelving

While none of these was anything truly crazy, adding them all together has made such an impact! It’s the same size and layout as before obviously, but it feels so much brighter and cleaner. And my favorite part is that it’s done before baby girl got here! We were cutting it a little close! LOL

It’s so nice to not walk in here and see a project waiting for me. Which is good, because I’ve reached the point in my pregancy that baths are starting to be a requiement for me to even begin to feel comfortable enough to go to sleep. Oy. lol

All we’re waiting on is our new laundry hamper and a shelf for Aaron’s side of the sink, and we are calling this space a wrap! It may not be my dream $20,000 master bathroom, but by golly, we did it ourselves, for super cheap, and I’m really proud of it.
