Interior Door Overhaul

I am forever convinced that several small changes overtime make a big difference. By changing out our light fixtures, doorknobs, and hardware, I really feel that the things that are dating our home are starting to disappear!

Honestly this project was bigger than I thought it would be. But that’s kind of how all house projects go right? This wasn’t my first time painting doors, I had done them at my old house too. Those ones I chose to do gray. But this house is two stories and I didn’t realize how many extra doors that meant! The old house only had 13 doors total. This house had 24! But they were so dirty and the hardware was definetly in need of being replaced. I was really nervous about going with black, but my friend Amanda had done it at her house and seeing hers made me feel brave enough to give it a try.

I’m basically an interior door knob installer pro. If it’s a thing, I bet I could win a timed contest. The exterior hardware took a little more thinking power, but I feel a lot safer with the systems that I added!

This front door change was SO GOOD!! I love how it looks now, and it no longer looks worn out from the sun. Which created an “if you give a mouse a cookie” situation and started me down the path of building my own shutters. Which is done, if they would ever dry. But that’s it’s own blog post :)

Kind of an up close of how dirty these doors were before I cleaned and painted them. No thanks!

I was also nervous about all these doors in the basement. We got so lucky with all our storage and most of these have these huge build in shelves. But I didn’t want it to be a sea of black. But with the lighting and the light gray walls, I really think it looks very polished! We don’t get in and out of these doors regularly so we treat them as a wall in Parker’s play area.

I think this is a good example too of the difference paint and hardware makes. I’m not a fan of bifold doors ever, but it’s not realistic for us to change these out, and in several places, it wouldn’t fit well to do regular doors. But how much more modern does this look!?

So it’s done! I have a few touch ups I need to do, and I need to decide my game plan as far as the back doors go, both from an exterior look perspective and blinds, but I’m kind of over doors right now, so we’re ignoring them for a bit LOL

So thrilled that I did it, so thrilled that it’s done!
