Laundry Room Overhaul

I’m not sure exactly why, but ever since having Parker I have to do laundry like every other day. We make more messes, have more changes of clothes, and need bedding washed more often

Basically what I am saying is that I live in the laundry room.

So walking into this blah room every day, with the door almost always open where I have to see it right off the kitchen wasn’t really bringing me joy. So I decided to bring it some color and happiness with an overhaul!

It took about 2 days and about $250 to do. Thankfully I had a gift card, so for me it was only like $150!

It was just too much. Too much to look at, too disorganized, and too much beige LOL

The first step was getting everything out! It is a small room, but just getting everything out helped. All of the shelves were really helpful, I just wanted to upgrade to something that looked nicer and functioned a little better for us (read doesn’t fling up if you put something too heavy on one side)

Next came patching and sanding all of the holes. I wanted it to be as smooth as possible before the paint and wallpaper. Next came painting and putting up the wallpaper! Peel and stick or bust for me!

These brackets have been some of my go to recently. They are off of Amazon and come in a variety of sizes. I like that they attach to the actual board, and are simple.

Sp 5 shelves went back up! All into studs which is why the brackets are where they are. You can see why it would be easy to tip one of these if the shelf wasn’t attached.

I wanted to take advantage of this window in here and add a little more green to my house! I’m telling you, I do not like the number of plants I’ve had to use that are fake because of Parker and the dogs, so wherever I can add real ones, I like to!

Last step was putting everything back! I got rid of several things, added some baskets to hide some others, and after that just accepted that this is a storage space and the shelves are going to be full. But what an upgrade! The toaster oven actually fits on the shelf without a scrap piece of wood, I can display a few of my grandmother’s recipes again, and the shelf doesn’t tip over every time we reach for the dog food.

I still don’t like how much laundry we have, but I’m hoping being in this beautiful room I won’t be quite so angry about doing it!
