Playhouse Bed

So this may be one of my favorite projects to date. Partially because I didn’t actually help, which was a really nice treat. My sweet husband and his friend took the idea I had in my head and made it a reality. And they did it for half the cost of buying it and made it so much sturdier!!

Creating this room for Parker has been so fun. I’m not too far off on having everything designed and ready for him to move in here this summer. We’re trying to make it seem like a fun space, with all his toys and big boy bed, so that he doesn’t feel like the baby is stealing his room. That’s the goal anyway!

We did a twin mattress so that as he gets bigger, we can eventually just add a normal bed frame. But for now, the fact that it is so close to the ground in case he rolls out, is ideal. Add in the Beddy’s Bedding that zips up, and I don’t foresee us having many issues.

The little chimney is just perfect to me. It’s all so cute, and Parker keeps asking to go play in his house. He is excited and love his space which is exactly what I wanted.

I had Aaron take pictures throughout the process so that you could see how all of it came together. They started with the base, which most of the ones you could buy from a store did not have. So already it was going to be more stable than what we could buy. Add in using wood pieces that were twice as thick and I feel good, knowing that Parker is going to be climbing over everything.

Once they built the base and the two ends, they went ahead and attached it all together to make sure that it worked, and to predrill everything. They then only had to partially break it down to transport it back to my house and get it upstairs into his room.

Isn’t this just the sweetest thing! I love the character it adds to his room, he’s obsessed with it, and I LOVE that his daddy built it. 10/10 for me.
