Floor Pop Tile

Our master bathroom is in the final phases of it’s facelift, and I’m so thankful. I’ve done this room, section by section, one small project at a time. The second to last project I had for this space on a budget was upgrading the floors. The tile was just not my style and the grout was obviously not the origonal color. I’ve had such luck with using these floor pop tiles, that for as affordable as they are, I wanted to give them a try in this space!

It is definetly the biggest, and most odd shape room I have done thus far, but I am loving the results! The tiles themselves say that you can put them down without anything on them. I have found that sealing them with two coats of poly acrcylic and using trim and caulk to make sure the sides don’t come up has yeilded the best results. Time will tell on how it holds up, but I think unless I drag something really heavy and sharp across them, they should hodl up quite well!

The cuts around the tub were of course the hardest with the angles. This tub you guys. But I really do love the subtle contrast of the tile against the wood!

This is the corner I started in! The very last thing in this room I am replacing is the shower door, which you can see is rusting out at the bottom. We litterally use the rug as a sponge right now, so that’s fun.

On the areas of the room that are straight, it honestly goes very quickly! You just need to make sure you clean the floor very well and that it’s compleltely dry before applying them.

I also used lemon and thieves cleaner to clean the tops of the tiles. As you peel the stickers off the tile backing, the adhesive goo gets on the tops of everything. I made sure it was all clean well before I did the sealant.

After I did two coats of sealant, which I allowed to dry about 12 hours before we walked on it, I then measured out the trim. I am just trying to think of whatever ways I can keep it from piling up and have it function as one unit. Plus it helped hide the imperfections, if my tile cuts weren’t perfect!

After I attached the trim (nail gun along the wall, gorilla glue anywhere near piping), I sealed the nail holes and painted it. Then I added caulk (white along the top and clear along the floor) to help anchor it into place, and give it a real clean looking finish!

So that’s my before and after of my bathroom floor pop tile! Again, this space is not perfect, but I love it so much more than before! It is clean, and bright, and no longer falling apart. Now we’re just waiting on the shower door to come in! It’s supposed to get here in 3 weeks. Please pray I ordered the right thing, because my due date is in 9! Oh my!
