My Top 10 Favorite Home Design Trends

HomeJessica RayomeComment

So the crazy thing about having a DIY blog, is that it requires you to constantly be making something. And while I would GLADLY be constantly renovating and crafting, our bank account demands certain rest periods. So while I sit over here and dream of my house to do list, I wanted to share some of my favorite design trends right now. And actually, most of these are present, or in the works in my house right now, which is more than exciting!

1. WHITE WALLS
And these are WOODEN, white walls to boot (insert heart eyed emoji). The contrast of the floor and the walls is all sorts of dreamy. I have no idea how difficult it would be to maintain, but I absolutely love how bright it is!

2. WOODEN SHELVES
All of this open shelving gives you a way to show off your dishes, and adds a rustic touch to any room. We have them in our kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom. Whoops.

3. WHITE SUBWAY TILE
Not only is it one of the cheapest tiles, but it's also one of the most popular right now. I am DYING to do this with the dark grout in our master bathroom, which is currently a very pitiful shower with my wobbly, unattached, frosted door. We've actually got some of this mixed with the beadboard in our kitchen as well.

4. GLASS SHELVING/BEADBOARD
This is kind of two trends in one. It piggy backs off of the open shelving with the glass doors and my ever present love of beadboard. You can tell I defiantly love all things that fit with that farmhouse style.

5. FARMHOUSE SINK
I would never say that this was a trend, because these are never going out of style. Big enough to wash a chili pot or a baby inside of. LOVE.

6. ECLECTIC ART WORK
Obviously I love this because we live near a bison farm. And I desperately want it to be hanging in our home. But gone are the days of landscapes and portraits on the wall, at least in my home. Eclectic, simplistic artwork is a great way to make a statement! Add in some accent lighting to the wall as a finishing touch.

7. BARN DOORS
Talk about an amazing way to add rustic character to any space! We have some in our bedroom, but they can be added to the living room, pantry, or a bathroom door!

8. WOODEN WALLS
Channeling my inner JoAnna Gaines here, but I am seriously trying to figure out what wall I can do this on. And how to do it without putting a million nail holes in my wall. Decisions, decisions.

9. MUDROOMS
We actually just finished up this project in our basement and I could not love it more. Honestly I think that the more storage space that you have in a home, the more likely you are to fill it with junk! So I was glad to lose a closet, to gain a space that we use every day to drop off our jackets and purses! Check out my DIY tutorial on how to create your own space here

10. DUTCH DOORS
So these are definitely not new, and certainly not particularly common to find (at least in my neck of the woods), but I could not find them more charming. I would absolutely love to have one in my home, especially something with such a fun color like this!
