How to Turn a Closet Into a Mudroom

Home, DIYJessica RayomeComment

So this is one of my favorite transformations we've done so far! This is right when you walk in from the garage. Originally this was an awkward empty closet that didn't even have drywall or hooks. I guess it's purpose was for extra storage, but I'm really of the opinion that the more storage you have the more junk you collect. So there was no love loss on getting rid of it and turning it into something more useful!

This gives you a better idea of what it looked like before. Lovely white folding doors and nothing but concrete behind them!

So keeping with the original closet frame, we built out the sides and added the beadboard backing. Then we added a bench with cubbies for our shoes, and boxes up top for scarves, mittens, hats ect! A few hooks added to hang coats from and it's done! Well and two coats of paint.

So so happy with how it turned out! Now you walk right in from the garage and can hang up your coat, drop off your purse, before heading upstairs! I absolutely love it! It's got that Pottery Barn style but without the cost!

What is your next project? I love seeing different ideas on how to improve your homes! I've got another painting project planned for when I get back home, so keep a look out for another before and after!
