Cherry Cobbler

So my grandma has a cherry tree in her backyard and when we were kids we used to climb onto the roof of her garage and pick them in the summer. I feel like we were always picking cherries, pitting them, and making something yummy with them. This is her recipe for cherry cobbler that I tried my hand at for the first time solo this weekend!

Ingredients 

This is for a double batch (I needed to make mine in a 9x13 pan because I was feeding more people)

2 sticks butter or margarine    

1 1/2cup milk 

2 cup flour                               

2 cans cherries (undrained)

2 cups sugar                            

4 teaspoon baking powder                    

1 teaspoon salt                              

1 cup sugar 

Instructions

Melt butter in baking dish

Make a batter of flour, sugar, salt, baking powder and milk

MIx batter with butter and pour into pan. 

Pour fruit over this mixture. 

Sprinkle 1 cup sugar over top

Bake at 350 until brown and bubbly about 50 min (The regular batch size says to bake for 30 min)

My grandma's house is why I am planning on planting apple and cherry trees in my yard this year. I want my kids to be able to pick fruit and enjoy baking just like I did as a kid!
